Senior Vice President
Born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, Brian spends a considerable amount of time involving himself in his community. Brian and his wife currently reside in the southwest suburb of Homer Glen with their four children and two Labrador retrievers. When he is not helping his clients achieve their goals of home ownership, he enjoys rooting on the Bears, White Sox and Blackhawks and visiting cultural events only available in the world's greatest city!
I would highly recommend Brian and had a great experience.
I would take a moment to thank you and your staff for your incredible efforts, support, professionalism, and above all your results. What was most impressive is that everything you said would happen actually came through. I learned that the lending industry has significantly changed in the past years and it was quite impressive how you managed the complexity of such a temperamental system. As cliché as it sounds, I am now living in my dream home with your help, guidance, and resolve. Thank you again and it will be my honor to send you more business.
I cannot express my sincere thanks to you and your staff, especially Belen Romero, in enabling me to purchase a condo in the city.
After much discussion with my family, I decided to sell my home of 30 years to downsize and move into the city to be by my children and grandchildren. To help me make this transition to the city, I planned to work with my current bank to purchase my condo. Everything with my bank had been running very smoothly until closing. On the day of closing everything fell apart, and I could not get any answer from my bank about what was happening with my home loan.
After many unanswered calls and emails with my current bank regarding information about my situation, my financial counsel recommended that I contact your bank for assistance. After speaking to you on the phone that day about starting the process all over again, mortgage application, another appraisal, and other duplicate costs such as additional closing costs to attorneys, cancellation of contractors to finish floors, paint, boarding animals, etc. your bank pulled off a miracle. You were able to close on my condo within 10 days of my first phone call!
I am so very thankful for you and your staff, and your unbelievable miracles you were able to do. I am so happy to tell everyone I know who ever needs help with a mortgage to contact you and your bank.
It was under a stressful, anxiety ridden, and unfortunate circumstance that I came into contact with Brian. I was less than 48 hours to the close date on my new home when Bank of America, the lender who I had been working with for a month and a half, denied my loan application due to concerns regarding my allowable income. It was frustrating beyond words, as I had been given every assurance from Bank of America that I met all income criteria for the loan, yet at 5:15pm on Wednesday, 4/13 I was told that the maximum amount Bank of America would lend me was less than half of what I was requesting for a loan that was to close Friday, 4/15, at 9:00am.
I was completely distraught and unsure of what to do. I was fearful that I was about to lose the home my family and I had spent months identifying and pursuing. The next morning I was referred to Brian Kohlstead from a physician customer of mine at 9:00am on Thursday, 5/14. I immediately called him to discuss my situation and almost instantly I noticed a night and day difference between him and the loan officer at Bank of America. Brian’s high level of knowledge, integrity, and professionalism instantly put my mind at ease and after describing the details of my situation he felt confident I was qualified for far more favorable terms than those which Bank of America had switched me to at the 11th hour. Understanding the time sensitivity of the situation, he gave me a very clear and direct list of what he would need from me in order to assess the loan amount he would be able to extend. I emailed him all the requested documents at 9:30am and by 10:30am he had reviewed all of my information with his underwriter who works in the same office and had given me a conditional pre-approval for 90% of my initial loan application from Bank of America with closing date in 8 days, 4/22. Brian took the time to speak with my attorney, my realtor, and the seller’s realtor and was able to set everyone’s mind at ease regarding my loan situation and make all parties comfortable with extending the closing by a week. By 4:00pm on 4/14 I had received the official loan commitment letter from Brian's company. In summary, Brian and his staff(who are all in the same office) were able to accomplish more in under 7 hours than Bank of America’s dysfunctional and disjointed team of loan officers, processers, and underwriters(who are all located in different cities) were able to in a month and a half. The level of efficiency displayed by Brian was nothing short of amazing, and without Brian’s extraordinary effort there is no doubt that my family would have lost the house we had spent months working to obtain.
A week later we seamlessly closed on our new home and all parties involved walked away happy. Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have come in contact Brian Kohlstedt, a true professional in every sense of the word. Brian’s incredible work earned him a customer and referral source for life. It is with full confidence that I strongly recommend Brian Kohlstedt to anyone and everyone seeking financing on the purchase of a home.
