Jason Smartt joined The Federal Savings Bank in 2016 as Senior Vice President, leading the Consumer Loan Division of the company.
He was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army and was on active duty as a Field Artillery Officer, where he completed a tour of duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Upon leaving active duty, he found a passion in delivering relevant products to consumers, which led him to pursue a career in brand management at Tyson Foods, CreditServe and The Kraft Heinz Company.
Jason earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Leadership and Management with a concentration in Systems Engineering from the United States Military Academy and an MBA from the University of Chicago’s prestigious Booth School of Business. While pursuing his MBA, he led a team of his classmates and a professor to form an online lending company for the sole purpose of providing more favorable personal loan interest rates and terms to our active-duty Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen. He believed our servicemen and woman are valuable customers beyond their credit score, so he designed a credit modeling procedure to incorporate military records into the credit underwriting process. Jason was presented with the opportunity to scale these concepts with The Federal Savings Bank.
In his spare time, Jason enjoys helping active-duty men and women transition from the military into civilian careers. His experience and expertise prove invaluable for them. He also enjoys CrossFit and lounging with his two large dogs.
