William “Bill†Carlton Wood holds a BS degree in Economics and Business Administration, from Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida. In addition, he studied at the University of Florida, and at the ABA Graduate Studies program at Northwestern University. After serving his country in the US Air Force, Bill started what would become an extensive banking and mortgage career as a Bank Regulator for the State of Florida’s Department of Banking. He ultimately rose through the ranks to become the department’s Regional Bank Examination Director for Central and South Florida.
Throughout his career, Bill has held many prominent roles at several Florida community banks, such as Executive Officer and Bank Director. He left The State Banking Department to start a bank consulting firm providing services to Florida community banks and bank holding companies. Bill has also served as Director of Branch Planning for a large Florida bank holding company. Bill’s entry into the mortgage industry came about while providing consulting services to a large savings & loan association client who wanted to establish a mortgage loan operation and a title services business in the Fort Myers-Naples area of southwest Florida. With over twenty years of experience in banking behind him, Bill was a consummate mortgage lender on day one. His knowledge of business law and finance, along with his expertise in bank lending operations enabled Bill to easily guide his customers through the maze of mortgage lending products to find a loan solution designed to meet the unique and specific needs of the individual client. Bill has originated well over 1,000 mortgage loans during his mortgage lending career and to many of those clients he is considered their “mortgage banker for lifeâ€. He has been recognized by several of the lending organizations he has worked for as providing outstanding customer service.
Bill and his life partner, Susan, reside in Central Virginia where he is active in his local community. He has two children and two Grandsons. He is a fan of professional tennis and college football. Bill is a Florida Gator, who bleeds orange and blue. He is also an avid nature and science enthusiast who reads books and magazines and watches nature and science TV shows on a regular basis.
