Shane Deal


Shane Deal graduated from Minnesota State University with a degree in Finance and Economics and a minor in Accounting, and holds a graduate degree from the University of Wisconsin in Banking and Economics. After graduating, he started his career in the banking industry where he spent more than 20 years. Shane rose through the ranks of banking, moving from credit analysis to relationship banking to commercial lending and ultimately Senior Management and President of several community-based organizations. The last eight years of his banking career were spent leading progressive, fast growing institutions that focused on meeting its customers and community needs.

After a successful banking career, Shane was appointed to the State of Minnesota Commerce Department as the Deputy Commissioner of Financial Institutions. In this role, he was responsible for all the chartered and licensed financial institutions in the state of Minnesota, including more than 300 chartered banks and credit unions as well as approximately 5,000 licensed non-depositories that encompassed over 4,000 mortgage brokers, lenders and companies. In his role, Shane oversaw all the state and federal regulations, and worked closely with federal regulators such as the FDIC, FRB and CFPB. He excelled in his role and was quickly recognized as a national leader and appointed to the Conference of State Bank Regulators (CSBS) where he was ultimately elected to the Executive Board of Directors. Shane was also a member of the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators (AARMR). He has worked with state and federal regulators in attempt to bring “common sense” back into financial regulations and to help maintain customers access to all forms of financial products including residential mortgages. Because of Shane’s extensive knowledge of banking, lending guidelines and customer relations, he offers a unique and comprehensive understanding of the home buying process.

Shane has three children and stays busy keeping up with their active lives. His children all are very active in sports including two collegiate athletes in baseball and downhill skiing and one aspiring collegiate athlete. In his free time, Shane loves to be outdoors biking and skiing. He also enjoys traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
