Daughter to Geoffrey Lee, a pioneer computer programmer during the birth of the information and technology era in the 70’s, Gara traveled extensively as a child. Born in Portland, Oregon, her father’s work allowed her to grow up in some of the most spirited cities in U.S. Raised primarily in Portland, Oregon. Gara also grew up in California, Atlanta, Georgia, and Florida. She finally settled down in New York in the early 80s where she attended primary and prep school. Through academic scholarships awarded to Gara, she attended Iona College in Beautiful Westchester County, New York, receiving honors throughout her academic career. Having recently returned to Florida, Gara is determined in her mission of expanding Orlando into the Tropical Metropolis that she has envisioned it will become. Although relocating numerous times, she has always been able to plant deep roots in her local community, establishing long lasting relationships, for which distance poses no obstacle.
Having successfully raised 4 children, Gara and her husband Joe, continue to bring up 3 more, while still finding time to organize the local football and cheerleading league for over 400 children. In addition, for the past several years, Gara has volunteered for The Fresh Air Fund, an organization that places children from the inner city, with families in the suburbs for the summer months.
