Information Technology Systems Engineer

The Federal Savings Bank Infotech System Engineer's primary function is to oversee the architecture design and day-to-day operation of the organization’s LAN (local area network), WAN (wide area network), and server environment. The Systems Engineer organizes, supervises, and executes installation and support of the organization’s systems, including Server environment, active directory, firewalls, switches, and other data communication systems. Additionally, the Systems Engineer works in conjunction with IT Admin and Info Sec to ensure proper functioning, utilization, and security of the WAN, LAN, and server environment. This position will be based out of our Chicago, IL headquarters office located in the West Loop neighborhood and will report directly to the Bank's SVP of Information Technology.

 Job Duties

  • Oversee installation, maintenance, repairs, and upgrading of LAN hardware and software
  • Develop and maintain LAN and WAN maps, maintain network, systems inventory
  • Help Information Security ensure network and systems security by designing and building security systems and building infrastructure with secure configurations
  • Ensure that WAN/LAN systems are in continuous operation
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate LAN/WAN performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Help tech support resolve LAN/WAN-related problems
  • Solve LAN/WAN problems quickly and effectively when a user or an automated monitoring system lets them know about a problem
  • Perform ongoing hardware Configuration management
  • Configure and maintain Windows servers and virtual appliances
  • Maintain Active Directory maintenance
  • O365 configurations
  • Create and use of PowerShell scripts
  • Light lifting requirements
Job Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, IS, MIS, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Five + years of work experience in systems administration
  • Previous overall systems management experience is highly desired
  • Systems administration certification (e.g., MCSE, CCNA) is desirable
  • FortiGate firewall, SonicWall firewall, and Cisco ASA experience are also preferred
  • Superior organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills
  • Must have demonstrated above-average analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Gathering evidence and preparing reports
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Active Directory/LDAP Directory Services and Windows 2008, 2008 R2, 2012,2016 and Office 365 and SQL Server
  • Familiar with firewalls/routers/IPS/IDS
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Access, Excel, Word, Project)
  • Familiar with VOIP technologies and implementations
  • Understanding of computer systems and security issues
  • Ability to define complex problems and propose solutions
  • Ability to work well with other technicians in Information Technology and Information Security
